Mrs. Robards' Visit
Mrs. Robards, Lane (3rd) and Wyatt's (K) mom, came in and shared information about farming and chickens with all grade levels. We have been discussing and learning about chickens in the Science Lab as we attempt to hatch chicken eggs in our classroom. She brought in chicken feed and silage that is fed to the cows. Some students even smelled the silage! Mrs. Robards was a wealth of knowledge, and everyone enjoyed her presentation. Be sure to ask your child what they learned! Thank you, Mrs. Robards! |
Hatching Eggs
Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news-Something went wrong with our first batch of eggs, and we had to start all over! The good news-We have more eggs and a new incubator!! We have 18 eggs, 3 Rhode Island Red, 5 Leghorn and 11 Barred Rock. We started the incubation on Thursday, March 2nd. It should take 21 days for our eggs to hatch. We will keep you updated! We will be learning about eggs and chickens, also. An eggs-tra special thanks to Samantha with the Bullitt County AG Extension for the brand new incubator and eggs. |

LIGHT
Our first topic is light. We are doing investigations and engineering tasks to learn more about light.
Our first topic is light. We are doing investigations and engineering tasks to learn more about light.
How does light travel? Students in 3rd-5th grade are investigating this question during Science Lab. |
What do we need to see? Students in K-2nd grade are investigating this question during Science Lab. |
Vision Challenge Teams in 3-5 grade worked together to make models that describe how light reflects from objects, enters the eye, and sends signals to the brain which allows us to see. |
|
|
What does transparent, translucent and opaque mean? Students in K-2 grade conducted an investigation to determine if objects were transparent, translucent or opaque. |
Gardening with Mr. Woosley
Our last pick in the patch were pumpkins. Lowe's in Shepherdsville donated 4 plants before school started, and Mr. Woosley planted them. Two of Mrs. Axline's friends got to pick our 2 pumpkins. Last spring, Mr. Woosley planted some starter sweet potato plants in our planter outside. Earlier in the fall, Mrs. Axline's friends witnessed the harvest. That is real science learning going on! Thanks, Mr. Woosley!! |
